You have a countless number of ROM and Emulator sites to pick from on the internet not just the ones on this page. The sites shown on this page are sites that we have used over the years and have never downloaded a virus from any of them.
What are Emulators and ROM's
Emulators are programs that copy the functions of a system so it can be used on a different one, allowing the second system to behave like the first. ROM is the acronym for Read Only Memory. A Game ROM is a copy of data from a read only memory chip such as a game cartridge or a arcade games main board. ISO is a image or copy of a game disc from a gaming system. A ISO file can also be a image or copy of a computer game or program disc. In short you use emulators to play game ROM's and ISO's form gaming systems on your computer, tablet, phone, and even other gaming systems. If the game file is from a cartridge it's called a ROM if it's from a disc it's called a ISO. How to Load a ROM/ISO
After you have found the game ROM or ISO you want and the emulator you need to play the ROM/ISO it's time to start playing. First you will need to install the emulator. NOT ALL EMULATORS NEED TO BE INSTALLED In fact most emulators don't require installation at all, they run right from the downloaded and extracted files. Example: After downloading and extracting Project 64 v.2.1 if you double click the .exe Application File the program starts running instead of installing. Once you have your emulator running it's time to load your game ROM/ISO. I am using Project 64 in the example bellow but all emulators work about the same regardless if it's for ROM's or ISO's. On your emulators menu bar click "File" a drop down menu will open. In the drop down menu click "Open ROM" a window will open. Find the location you have your saved ROM's and select a game ROM to play and click the "Open" box. Your game should now be running and you can now play. |
